In order to provide IP telephony services for IP telephone systems a country-specific SIP DDI standard is required. The SIP standard uniformly regulates the “understanding” between all SIP telephones worldwide, however, not for telephone systems with extension numbers. In almost all countries, extension numbers for telephone systems are technically regulated differently, therefore SIP DDI (Direct Dial In) is a country-specific standard and will be applied to the implementation of IP telephone systems by IP Austria.
